The stock price of Lasertec, a Japanese manufacturer of semiconductor mask and blank mask inspection equipment, soared 21% as NVIDIA's market value reached US$5 trillion, driving market expectations for investment in the most advanced chip manufacturing to promote the development of AI.
Bloomberg reported that this wave of gains was Lasertec’s largest in the past year, and it occurred the day before the company’s upcoming financial report. Analysts expected revenue to grow by 27%.
Previously, US President Trump said that NVIDIA's most advanced Blackwell AI chips may be discussed in trade negotiations with China, and NVIDIA may increase sales of hardware. These news have pushed up the stock price of the entire industry. As an important technology supplier of advanced chip design, Lasertec has become one of the biggest beneficiaries.
Lasertec's equipment is used to verify semiconductor designs, especially in the final stages of using ASML EUV exposure technology, and the company's stock price was upgraded to a "buy" rating by Aletheia Capital analyst Warren Lau the day before.
Lasertec currently cooperates with the world's leading wafer foundries, including TSMC, Intel and Samsung. Recently, orders have increased significantly due to increased demand from customers such as NVIDIA and AMD.
Lasertec was founded in 1960, and its sales have grown simultaneously with the development of ASML EUV exposure machines. Although wafer foundries account for the majority of Lasertec's revenue, its mask-related equipment is also used to process high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
