Long absence! Guardiola: Kovacic still has ankle problems and will not be able to return until the end of the season

Guardiola was interviewed recently and talked about Manchester City's current injury situation.

Manchester City has been hit by injuries again. Kovacic will face a new round of truce due to ankle injury. The Croatian midfielder has yet to start for the Blue Moon this season after undergoing Achilles tendon surgery this summer. He returned from injury against Burnley in September but only made appearances as a substitute against Everton and Villarreal. During the international break, he started for Croatia against Gibraltar and played for more than an hour.

The game against Swansea last week was scheduled to be his first start, but he did not appear. Guardiola confirmed after the Premier League win over Bournemouth that the 31-year-old will be out for the long term.

Guardiola said: "He will be absent for a period of time. He still has problems with his ankle and there is still slight calcification. We will wait for him to return to the team at the end of the season."

Kovacic is Manchester City's only injury hazard at present. Rodri returned from the bench against Bournemouth. Malmouche, Nouri and Husanov have all returned against Swansea. The latter was not included in the squad against Bournemouth, but both his and Oscar Bob's absences were due to tactical choices rather than injuries.

Both are expected to return to the lineup against Dortmund. The Champions League allows 12 substitutes, while the Premier League bench is 9.
