In recent years, depression has become increasingly well-known. People suffering from depression need to face the risk of recurrence even after being cured, and more serious may endanger their lives and health. Not only are humans threatened by depression, but soft and cute cats are also likely to suffer from depression.

Because language is incapable of communication, people are often slow to deal with depression in cats. When a cat has abnormal behavior, you should think about whether it is caused by a temporary situation or whether the cat accidentally suffers from depression, so as to take countermeasures to help the cat recover from happiness and health.

1. The manifestation of depression

For cats, the obviousness of depression may be the loss of curiosity about everything. I no longer like to explore moving objects, no longer like to catch mice, no longer like to climb up and down, but just lie obediently in my nest, even if my owner teases and feeds them, I feel indifferent.

Some cats will have abnormal behaviors, such as the usual quiet cats, suddenly become quarrels, keeps meowing, and even grab a hole in the sofa. Depression may also make cats timid. You should know that cats are hunters. If there is a slight sound, the cat's first reaction is to escape, which means there is something wrong with the cat!

2. The causes of depression

The causes of depression are diverse, and may be related to the owner. Have you neglected your care for your cat recently because of your busy work? Suddenly reducing time with the owner can easily lead to cats becoming frustrated, especially those as clingy as Siam.

It may also be a change in the environment. Have you changed your residence? Cats lack security. But the good news is that this depression is temporary, and when a cat develops a familiarity with the environment, the depression will disappear. Another possibility is that the environment changes. The always bleak winter will cause people's seasonal emotional disorders, and cats may become depressed due to the lack of sunshine.

3. How to deal with depression

If you need to move, be careful to take away the items your cat uses, such as feeding bowls, cat nests, cat litter, etc. When cats are not fully familiar with the environment, do not bring cat strangers into new residences to reduce stimulation.

If it is seasonal emotional disorder caused by winter, you can try phototherapy. Buy a cup of ultraviolet rays and let the cat bathe in the sun for a while every day. When all measures are ineffective, you should send them to the pet hospital in time and consider taking medication.
