The 33-year-old Wilshere coached Luton Town in the League One. At the inauguration conference, Wilshere talked about the advice and help Arteta gave him.
Wilshere: "About a year ago, I asked him, Mikel, when do you know you're ready? He laughed. He said, you just have to jump in and swim as hard as you can. Obviously, he did a good job at that, and I almost got it.
"The feeling now is somewhat similar to that at the beginning. When Mikel came in, things were not good at Arsenal and the fans were full of doubts about the direction of the club. What he did was establish a system of complete unity, allowing everyone to fully trust his plan, and creating a strong family-like atmosphere.
"That's the key, making people believe and convincing them. Yes, Mikel is good at it and there is definitely a lot in his experience that I can learn from. I'm lucky to have worked closely with him, although in retrospect it's probably unusual for a youth coach to be able to walk into the manager's office at any time, probably because of our special relationship. But yes, he has been great and will continue to be so."
