Recently, many residents in a community in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province reported that their pet dogs died after suddenly exhibiting convulsions, foaming at the mouth and other abnormal behaviors. They suspected that someone had poisoned the dog-walking lawn. Wu Yu (pseudonym), a resident of Guolingwan Community, Luquan District, Shijiazhuang City, told Jimu News reporter that at around 8 a.m. on May 20, his family went to walk their dog on the lawn of the community as usual and came back not long after. At about 12 noon, the pet dog suddenly started barking and twitching. After a while, the dog's body began to soften, and its eyes became blank.
"It kept panting loudly and foaming at the mouth. It died before being sent to the hospital." Wu Yu said that the family had their pet dog for three years and had a deep relationship with the family. They wanted to help the dog's funeral as soon as possible, but they buried the dog before they could find out the cause of death. Afterwards, the more Wu Yu and his family thought about it, the more something was wrong. They told the community group about the abnormal death of their pet dog. Unexpectedly, many residents also reported that they had encountered a similar situation.
According to doctors at a nearby pet hospital, they received several pet dogs with similar symptoms on the morning of the 20th. Basically, they all had convulsions, foaming at the mouth, and bleeding from their ears and nose. On the morning of the 21st, a resident found some ham sausages with unknown white powder on them in the grass where they often walked their dogs. "The ants on the ham sausage are all dead." Wu Yu said that they have sent the ham sausage for testing, but the results have not yet come out.
Wu Yu introduced that according to statistics, more than 20 pet dogs died abnormally in the community, and they also found the bodies of more than 10 stray cats in the community. "The deaths of cats and dogs, the ham sausage with white powder... this is too coincidental." Wu Yu suspected that someone poisoned the lawn where the dog was walking.
Wang Huan (pseudonym), another resident of the community, said that they also checked the surveillance camera afterwards, but the surveillance screen was too dark and they could not see the situation clearly. After the incident involving cats and dogs in the community, many residents stopped letting their children play near the lawn. "I hope there will be a result as soon as possible so that I can feel at ease." Wang Huan said.
On the morning of May 25, Guolingwan property staff said that they had called the local police station and were actively cooperating with the investigation. Currently, community cleaning and security are strengthening the cleaning and inspection of multiple areas of the community.
Staff from the High-tech Park Police Station of the Luquan District Public Security Bureau told reporters that the matter is under investigation and the relevant owners will be notified of the results.
